Roll out the red carpet for these shining kindergartners...Our first field trip to Ft. Caroline National Monument

We did it!! Congratulations my brave explorers. YOU made it through a one mile hike on the Hammock Nature Trail where you learned all about the rich resources that Florida has to offer. On the trail we learned that the Sabal Palm is Florida's state tree, the Timucuans stuffed their mattresses with Spanish Moss, Wax Myrtle was used to keep insects away, and so much more. We were also able to explore the Fort exhibit, listen to a wonderful presentation at the visitor center, and visit the Timucua Hut where the Timucuans found shelter. Thank you to the amazing chaperones who hiked the trail with us and to all parents/guardians for helping our class to be extra prepared for the field trip. I am so proud of you brave kindergartners for asking so many questions and being so curious. YOU deserve a standing ovation.
